THE HONEST
MEN TRUST

Campbell
Money has been delighted with the Ayr supporters gesture
Player
Fund Closes In On £10k Target (27/01/04)
Following
the encouraging result against Ross County at Dingwall where
a precious point was achieved, Ayr United are due a further
boost at next Saturdays home against fellow strugglers, Brechin
City.
The Honest Men Trust, the supporter’s community initiative,
will present the proceeds of their major fund raising effort
- the Players Fund - to the Club. With a target of £10,000,
it will help Campbell Money in his attempts to secure players
to stave off the threat of relegation. A presentation will be
made on the park by the Trust Secretary, Neil Bone, and Trust
Project Coordinator Callum Yorke, at the half –time interval.
Already the Fund has been instrumental in securing the £5,000
transfer from Cowdenbeath of Graham Brown and Campbell Money
and the Ayr United Board have been delighted with the Ayr supporters
generosity.
Donald
McNeill, Trust spokesman, said
“This
is a magnificent effort by the ordinary supporters of Ayr United.
It shows the strength of feeling for the club throughout Ayrshire
and beyond. All of us recognise that a Club who featured at
Hampden Park in the League Cup final against Rangers less than
two ago in front of a crowd of 50,000 plus must operate in at
least the First Division even if the Premiership is beyond us
just now.
We
set a target of £10,000 and with a last minute push we
should get there. By utilising the Paypal system via our website,
we have tapped into the goodwill of Ayr fans from all over the
UK – including, Shetlands, London and Aberdeen. There
is still time to help."
The
Trust has also received a big boost following last weeks meeting
of the Ayr United Board, John Duncan, Chairman, and Donald Cameron,
majority shareholder, have promised that all the money donated
by the Trust for the Player Fund will secure shares in the Club.
The
Trust is appreciative of the very positive response however
we appeal to any fans who can help us by way of a donation,
however big or small, to help us get to the target of £10,000
prior to next Saturdays match.
