THE HONEST MEN TRUST

Fans Show Their Christmas Spirit ! (31/12/03)

Campbell Money is set for an early Christmas present with fans set to hand him £5,000 for a player fund.

The Honest Men Trust have set a target of £10,000 for Ayr to buy new talent when the transfer window re-opens next month.

A spokesman for the Trust which has 250 members, said: "The club have promised that the total sum raised will be recognised by the Trust receiving future shares in Ayr United and strengthening the position and influence of Trust chairman John Dalton on the club's board of directors.

"As a community initiative, we call upon the public and private sectors in Ayrshire to support our appeal. So far it is our individual members who are contributing.

"Most people recognise that for Ayr to be relegated and playing next season in a lower division will be bad for the club and wider community.

"A strong and successful United brings considerable economic benefits to the town and increased media coverage of the area. We need corporate as well as individual help."
