Trust
Forum - United Not Going To The Wall But Player Fund Needs
Your Support ! (29/11/03)
A
positive Trust Forum meeting took place recently at Western
House, with about 60 people attending, prior to the defeat by
Ross County. Trust members presented successes already achieved
by the Trust to date and the future projects planned. Trust
Chairman and United Director, John Dalton put any rumours to
bed that Ayr United were in severe financial difficulty however
it was pointed out the Club, like many others, has to live within
its means and would not spend money it did not have. An update
on the Player Fund was given by Trust Treasurer, Alan Thomson,
and questions were asked why people promising donations via
The Honest Page poll were not signing up. The Player Fund has
raised just over £3,000 to date but further pledges and
donations are urgently needed to help strengthen the squad in
January to avoid what would be a disastrous drop football-wise
as well as commercially into the Second Division. Callum Yorke,
the Trust Project Coordinator gave an update on current projects
the Trust are working on namely improving facilities for our
disabled supporters at Somerset Park as well as improving community
sporting facilities within South Ayrshire. On the latter a meeting
between South Ayrshire Council and Trust members has already
taken place with positive initial discussions. A further follow
up meeting has been planned. John Dalton, on this subject, presented
the Brondy model where kids progress though the ranks of the
club from the age of 4 and there was a suggestion that Ayr United
could perhaps follow this model. A positive Question and Answer
session completed the meeting. Visit the Trust Forum for further
details on the Meeting and to air any views you may have.

you want further information on the Players fund or how you
can help Ayr United or the Trust phone Donald on 01292-280814.
