THE HONEST MEN TRUST

Trust Man Is New United Chairman

Ayr United yesterday announced the appointment of David Capperauld as the new Chairman of the club.

A native of Ayr, 37-year-old David, a self employed procurement consultant, has lived in Ayrshire for the past 25 years and has a long association with the club as a supporter, Honest Men Trust board member and latterly as a Director of the club, following his appointment to the board last January. He replaces John Duncan who has held the post since the beginning of the season, having previously served as a Director during which he ensured the smooth transition of the club during the purchase of the club by Donald Cameron last September.John had always intended his period as Chairman to be a transitional role and has decided that the time is now appropriate to handover the responsibility of taking the club forward. Ayr United would like to recognise his great contribution to the club over his time in control.

Regarding his appointment David said “The last 4 or 5 months have been a bit of a whirlwind for me personally, but it’s a position I feel proud to accept and I relish the prospect of putting pride back into a club that I love more than as a director or chairman but as a supporter. We need to create a vision and strategy that can enthuse the supporters, community and business population and with this in place we will make progress by focusing on the future of the club. We may face some short term challenges but with everyone pulling together we will become a stronger unit and grow to the potential I’m sure everyone believes we have.”
