Supporters Trusts ensure both the survival of their clubs and their development under local, democratic control. On the world stage FC Barcelona is founded on these very principles. David Dugan, from the Co-Op says: “The mutual model on which Supporters Trusts are based is a form of co-operative. We are delighted to continue to help Supporters Direct promote fan-ownership across Scotland. The days of “sugar daddies” arriving and departing on a whim are a thing of the past. We also recognise the huge amount of work undertaken by Trust members and we know that these comedy nights will be a reward for that work and attract new members and interest for each Trust. Supporter’s Direct project manager, Mark Reid, says; “Supporter Involvement and Supporter Ownership in football clubs across Scotland is the corner stone of what Supporters Direct Scotland represent. The importance that supporters and Football Trusts can play not only to develop their football clubs on match days, but in assisting the development and growth of their local communities can be profound and hugely beneficial to all within that community.” “The Bob Doolally Comedy Tour is another example of Football Trusts working in association with The Co-op group and Supporters Direct Scotland to offer local residents the opportunity to have a thoroughly enjoyable night while contributing to the on-going work of the Football Trust founded on the Co-operative principles that are at the centre of everything they do.” As Fair Pley, the tour managers, put it, “It’s been a real eye-opener to see all the work that each Trust puts in week in, week out. Club Shop backing Goalden Goal

The Honest Men Trust (THMT) is pleased to announce the Ayr United Club Shop is backing this season’s Goalden Goal competition. And this year’s winners now have a choice of prize, with club shop vouchers up for grabs to those with the lucky minute of Ayr United’s first goal. John Todd, Laurence Todd, Ronnie McJannet and the team at the club shop have bought five minutes for each of the 20 games the competition will run, starting with the Ramsdens Cup game at Queen’s Park on Saturday 27th July. For anyone who doesn’t know how Goalden Goal works, fans signing up for the competition are drawn a different minute, by random, for each of Ayr United’s first 20 competitive games.  If the first Ayr United goal 0f the game is scored in your minute – you’re the winner! For example, if you draw the 25th minute and Micheal Moffat smashes home Ayr’s first goal in the 25th minute – you win! Entry costs £1 per match and the prize each match will be 50% of the money raised that game or, new for this season, a club shop voucher to the equivalent value (rounded up to the nearest £10). Last season our biggest prize was £109.50 after a quadruple roll over and over £600 in prize money was paid out to those who took part. THMT are long running sponsors of the AyrUnited Football Academy, contributing over £1000 a season. We also back a number of Ayr United’s commercial opportunities and events including this Saturday’s shirt sponsorship draw. Proceeds from Goalden Goal will go directly to continuing our support. We have already had a great response to this year’s competition with over 50 people signed up but we’d love to sell out all 90 minutes for each game. Entering the competition couldn’t be easier: visit the Trust website and pay online using PayPal, send us a cheque or cash in the post or visit the Club Shop to sign up. The Honest Men Trust Comedy Night – Friday 18th October

The Ally MacLeod Hospitality Suite is set for an evening of laughter when the Supporters Direct Comedy Roadshow rolls into town in support of the Honest Men Trust. Presented by Fair Pley and sponsored by the Co-operative, ‘The Bob Doolally First Farewell Tour’ with Phil Differ sees two comedy geniuses rooted in football perform. A legend in his own liquid lunchtime, Bob ‘The Gob’ Doolally is now recognised as one of the most original and unique character comedy acts on the UK stage and screen, lauded by both the public and the press alike.  A retired football manager and ex-player, a dwindling career of television punditry combined with a secondary career as a functioning alcoholic has left its mark on a man who not only played for his country (twice) but considers all the big names of football as his close personal friends. With the national team is at its lowest ebb, clubs in financial meltdown, and our half-time pies and Bovril containing horsemeat 2013 has not been a good year for Scottish football who better to put a positive spin on events than Bob Doolally, the man who put the foot into football, the leg into legend and can regale punters with tales of the endless celebs he played for and managed, the numerous fights and on-pitch debacles, the six marriages to small town beauty queens, Tennent’s Lager Lovelies and C-list wannabes, and, of course, countless anecdotes of drink-fuelled debauchery.  Expect outrageous musings on the beautiful game, plus ask any question at Bob’s legendary Q&A. Co-creator of Only An Excuse as well as senior producer on Scotch & Wry and Naked Video, Phil Differ recently stepped out from behind the camera and embarked on a long held dream of becoming a stand up. Now a regular on the Scottish circuit, Phil will open the show having recently performed his solo set ‘How to Look Good Knackered’ at The Glasgow International Comedy Festival and will also compere the Q&A with the great Mr. Doolally. Tickets cost £8, with a £2 saving for existing Trust members and those signing up on the night.  The show is for over 18s only, with some ‘industrial language’ possible! Doors open at 7.30pm. Details on where you can buy tickets will be available...
